The basics01
What are B vitamins for nerves?
B vitamins for nerves are a small group of water-soluble vitamins that nerve cells rely on. They help turn food into energy and keep nerve signals working.
A shortage can cause nerve trouble. Low B12 is one of the best-known vitamin causes of numbness and tingling, and so, oddly, is too much B6 (NINDS, Peripheral Neuropathy).
SciatiEase uses active forms: riboflavin-5-phosphate, pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P), methylfolate and methylcobalamin.
| Label line | Per 4 capsules | % DV | Adult daily need |
|---|---|---|---|
| B2 (riboflavin-5-phosphate) | 25 mg | 1,923% | 1.1-1.3 mg |
| B6 (pyridoxal-5-phosphate) | 20 mg | 1,177% | 1.3-1.7 mg |
| Folate (5-methyltetrahydrofolate) | 500 mcg DFE | 120% | 400 mcg DFE |
| B12 (methylcobalamin) | 1 mg (1,000 mcg) | 41,667% | 2.4 mcg |
On the label02
How much of each B vitamin is in SciatiEase?
Each 4-capsule serving holds B2 25 mg, B6 20 mg, folate 500 mcg DFE and B12 1 mg. Two capsules give half: 12.5 mg, 10 mg, 250 mcg and 500 mcg.
Three lines sit far above daily needs; folate, at 120% of the Daily Value, does not.

Vitamin B603
Is 20 mg of vitamin B6 too much?
No for US rules, but it is above Europe's limit. The US upper limit for adults is 100 mg a day, while the European Food Safety Authority set 12 mg a day in 2023 (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6).
B6 is the one B vitamin where more can hurt nerves. Taking 1 to 6 grams a day for months or years has caused sensory neuropathy, with numbness and poor balance (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6).
US experts also noted several reports of nerve symptoms below 500 mg a day (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6).
A full serving gives 20 mg; 2 capsules give 10 mg. Risk grows when B6 from several products adds up.
Check multivitamins, B-complex pills, energy drinks and sleep or stress formulas for B6. If tingling or numbness starts or gets worse, stop and call your doctor. High-dose B6 may also lower levels of the seizure drugs phenytoin and phenobarbital (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6).
Vitamin B1204
Can vitamin B12 help nerves, and does metformin lower it?
Vitamin B12 helps nerves when you are short of it. Low B12 can cause numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, sometimes before any blood changes show up (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12).
Yes, metformin can lower B12. So can acid reducers: proton pump inhibitors and H2 blockers (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12).
Low B12 is common with age, found in an estimated 3% to 43% of older adults, depending on how it is measured (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12).
The 1 mg dose looks huge at 41,667% of the Daily Value. Only about 1.3% of a 1,000 mcg oral dose is absorbed, or roughly 13 mcg (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). No upper limit is set for B12.
- On metformin or an acid reducer? Ask your doctor for a B12 blood test.
- Keep taking metformin and any other prescribed medicine. Never stop it because of a supplement.
Folate05
Why does SciatiEase pair folate with B12?
Folate and B12 work together, and high folate can hide a B12 shortage. Large amounts of folate can correct the anemia of low B12 but not its nerve damage (NIH ODS, Folate).
Having both in one formula lowers that risk.
The 1,000 mcg upper limit applies to synthetic folate from supplements. There is no formal conversion factor for methylfolate; FDA lets makers use one of up to 1.7 (NIH ODS, Folate).
Folate can interact with methotrexate and some anti-seizure drugs (NIH ODS, Folate).

What does riboflavin (vitamin B2) do in a nerve formula?
Riboflavin helps cells make energy; SciatiEase gives 25 mg. No upper limit exists, and little is absorbed from one dose above about 27 mg (NIH ODS, Riboflavin).
There are no nerve-pain trials of riboflavin. Its best-known study use is 400 mg a day for migraine (NIH ODS, Riboflavin).
Expect bright yellow urine: it is harmless (MedlinePlus, Riboflavin). Riboflavin may cut absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, so take them hours apart (MedlinePlus, Riboflavin).
Sciatica07
Do B vitamins help sciatica?
B vitamins help nerves only when a shortage is part of the problem. No trial has tested these four for sciatica.
Sciatica usually comes from a disc or narrowed canal pressing on a nerve root (MedlinePlus, Sciatica). Most cases ease in 4 to 6 weeks with staying active (NHS, Sciatica).
Sciatica in both legs, numbness around the genitals or bottom, bladder or bowel changes, weak legs, or pain after an injury needs emergency care (AANS, Cauda Equina Syndrome). See sciatica basics, the benfotiamine (B1) profile and the medicines guide.
Other ingredients08
Which other SciatiEase ingredients work alongside the B vitamins?
Benfotiamine adds B1. PEA, lipoic acid, acetyl-L-carnitine and four herbs fill out the 12 lines.
FAQ09
B vitamin questions
Which B vitamins matter most for nerves?
B1, B6, B9 (folate) and B12 are the ones most tied to nerve health. Low B12 and low B1 can cause nerve symptoms (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12) (NIH ODS, Thiamin), while too much B6 can too (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6). SciatiEase covers B2, B6, folate and B12, with B1 as benfotiamine.
Can too much vitamin B6 cause neuropathy?
Yes. Taking 1 to 6 grams of B6 a day for months has caused sensory neuropathy, and some reports involve less than 500 mg (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6). Symptoms usually ease after stopping. SciatiEase has 20 mg per serving, so avoid adding other B6 products on top.
Why is the B6 in SciatiEase above the European limit?
SciatiEase is a US product, and the US adult upper limit is 100 mg a day. Europe's food safety agency set a stricter 12 mg in 2023 (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6). A 20 mg serving clears the US bar but not the European one.
Does metformin cause low vitamin B12?
It can. Metformin, proton pump inhibitors and H2 blockers can all reduce how much B12 you absorb (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). Low B12 can cause numbness and tingling. Ask your doctor for a blood test, and keep taking metformin as prescribed.
Why does SciatiEase list 41,667% of the Daily Value for B12?
The panel holds 1 mg (1,000 mcg) of B12, while the Daily Value is 2.4 mcg. The body absorbs only about 1.3% of a 1,000 mcg oral dose, roughly 13 mcg (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). No upper limit has been set for B12.
Why is my urine bright yellow after taking SciatiEase?
The 25 mg of riboflavin (vitamin B2) in each serving turns urine bright yellow. It is harmless (MedlinePlus, Riboflavin). Little is absorbed from a single dose above about 27 mg, and the rest passes out (NIH ODS, Riboflavin).
Can folate hide a vitamin B12 deficiency?
Yes. High folate can correct the anemia of low B12 while the nerve damage goes on (NIH ODS, Folate). SciatiEase pairs 500 mcg DFE of methylfolate with 1 mg of B12, which lowers that risk. A blood test is still the way to check B12.
