Regulation basics
Are Supplements Approved by the FDA? DSHEA in Plain English
Are supplements approved by the FDA? No. FDA cannot approve dietary supplements for safety or effectiveness before they are sold, and it does not approve their labels. The maker is responsible for safety and honest labeling. SciatiEase is a supplement, so it is not approved either, and no page should say otherwise.

Are dietary supplements approved by the FDA?
No, dietary supplements are not approved by the FDA. FDA cannot approve them for safety or effectiveness before sale, and it cannot approve their labels (FDA 101: Dietary Supplements).
Drugs follow a different path. A drug must be shown safe and effective before it is sold. A supplement does not face that test first.

What is DSHEA in plain English?
DSHEA is the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994. It set the rules that treat supplements as a kind of food, not as drugs.
Under those rules, makers must keep products safe and labels truthful. FDA can act after a problem appears, for example when a product is unsafe or a claim is false.
A product marketed to treat or prevent a disease is legally a drug (FDA 101: Dietary Supplements). That is why supplement labels use softer wording and a disclaimer. The FTC adds that a disclaimer does not rescue a deceptive claim, and health claims need solid evidence (FTC, Health Products Compliance).
- The label may describe how a nutrient supports a body function.
- It may not promise to treat or cure a disease.
- Claims still need honest support.
What does an FDA claim on a supplement page really mean?
An FDA claim on a supplement page is a warning sign, not a credential. FDA does not approve supplements, and it does not approve facilities (FDA, Hidden Ingredients).
Registration with FDA is also not approval. FDA has warned firms about papers that imply it (FDA Brief, Registration certificates).
The SciatiEase about page says "FDA-Approved and GMP-Certified facilities" with no facility or certifier named (SciatiEase about page). We could not confirm it. Our testing and quality page covers what is and is not documented.
We never say SciatiEase is approved by the FDA. FDA has not evaluated its statements, and it does not treat or prevent any disease.

FAQ01
Quick answers on FDA and supplements
Does FDA check supplements before they are sold?
No. FDA cannot approve supplements for safety or effectiveness before sale (FDA 101: Dietary Supplements). It can act after a product is on the market if it is unsafe or falsely labeled. The maker is responsible for safety.
Can I report a bad reaction to a supplement?
Yes. FDA advises reporting bad reactions (FDA 101: Dietary Supplements). Stop the product, call your doctor if symptoms are serious, and keep the bottle, lot code and receipt for your report.
What does a Supplement Facts panel prove?
It proves what the maker says is inside, not that the amounts are tested. It is a starting point. Lab reports from an independent lab are a stronger check, and many products do not publish one.
